In high school I was probably voted that kid that was most likely to fail. My second year of college I came down with encephalitis and almost died. I barely got better enough to go back to college and try to get out of finals since I had been sick, basically on a deathbed, for a month and 1/2. There was no way I was going to be able to pass my finals. The person I spoke to said that I missed a deadline by just a couple of days and would still have to go through finals. It was a disaster!

Do you remember those bubble tests?

On one of those bubble tests I filled it in to look like a submarine. When I handed it in the professor asked me what in the world I was doing, filling in the bubble test to look like a submarine?!

I told him that I had been out of college for the last month and 1/2 with encephalitis. Part of the time was on a deathbed and the rest of the time was sleeping and going to the bathroom at my mom's house, because that's all that i did for a month and 1/2. The only good thing was that as a fat kid I lost a lot of weight. I told him submarines go to the bottom of the ocean and that’s were my grade in this class is going too so I thought it was appropriate. He looked at me and kind of laughed and said I'm sorry. Quite honestly I was really surprised that I got a D minus out of that class.

Over the summer my dad knew my talents and my abilities. He got me interested in mortgage banking. I got a job with the 4th largest mortgage banker in the country and I took off. I worked my ass off! I was making great money.

At the end of the summer I was ready to go back to another college. My manager told me that if I left at that point then I would forgo all of the rest of my commissions-and it was a lot of money. After the way that I was treated at what I looked back at as being a very woke university I continued on with my career.

By the end of the second year I had made more money than my mom and dad combined. I bought my first brand new car with cash and the salesperson almost fell out of his chair, I bought a house and the girl next door thought I must sell drugs in order to make this kind of money.

All of my friends that were still in college couldn't believe it.

I studied hard at my craft of the time mortgage banking and also listened to up and coming gurus of positive mental attitude such as Tony Robbins, zig zigler, Brian Tracy, napoleon hill and many others.

Over the course of my life I've had my ups and downs but it's been a pretty awesome life. I gave up mortgage banking for financial planning and investment management over 30 years ago and have built two very successful firms. I live a wonderful life.

But recently I've noticed a lot of weird information out there in Internet land. Very recently I heard a financial and life coach telling others to become financial and life coaches and they were spewing horrible information. The type of information that could get these people destroyed had they followed these guidelines.

I thought I have to do something I have to let people know what's really going on, what's the right thing to do, what's the right course.
